SCHOOL PRESENTATIONSMatt´s presentations to high school students focus on two basic themes. These themes can either be combined into a single presentation or delivered separately.
As an adventure writer and photojournalist, Matt has been exploring Canada for more than fifteen years. In addition to hitchhiking across the country for four summers - an adventure recounted in his award-winning travel memoir The Canada Chronicles - he has taken part in many challenging expeditions to some of Canada's most remote wilderness regions.
Recent adventures include a one-month canoe journey along an old fur trade route from Lake Superior to James Bay, a multi-week circumnavigation by kayak of BC's Princess Royal Island while searching for humpback whales and Spirit bears, and a two-week trek across Baffin Island's Auyuittuq National Park during his honeymoon.
Using a selection of his most stunning photographs, Matt incorporates stories from his many adventures into a dynamic presentation about some of Canada's most "exotic" cultures and landscapes.
This presentation is perfect for geography and social studies classes.
Writing & Publishing
In the first part of this presentation Matt shares with students the story of how he became a professional writer, including candid snippets of the many challenges he has faced along the way. As with his geography presentation, this story is told using a multimedia format that showcases some of his most stunning photographs.
The second part of the presentation features an in-depth look at writing and book publishing. As the founder of Summit Studios - a publishing company that specializes in travel and outdoor humour - Matt is intimately familiar with the multi-layered process of putting a book together.

QUOTES"Matt Jackson spoke at our school on a dreary winter day. His incredible presentation was so full of fantastic photos, tales of adventure and candid humour that it made one forget winter all together. He also talked about the process of writing and getting published. Students were blown away by the details, the time, and the money required to publish a book. Junior and senior high school students are a tough audience and Mr. Jackson succeeded in keeping them totally captivated."
